Hanchi is one of the last entry hostels in Istanbul, but new doesn’t mean lack of experience and of services, in this case, new means plenty of services, affordable prices and good attention to the guests.
Location: 4/5
Located in the middle of the old city, Hanchi offers the best position to enter and to live the deep culture of the city. During your stay, you will be surrounded by typical restaurants and vivid markets.
At walking distance, there are lots of landmarks of Istanbul: The Grand Bazar and the Main Mosque are just two of them.
My suggestion is to explore the street of this neighborhood, especially during the morning, it seems to travel in time you’ll be immersed in colors, smells and noise typical of a multicultural and dynamic city as Istanbul is. The position helped me to explore any corner of the city.
There is a metro stop at 10 minutes walking from the hostel.
Rooms: 4/5
As I said before, the structure is brand new. The beds are super comfortable and quite big. The rooms are also provided with lockers where to store your valuable. The dormitory for 6 people is not so big, but there is the space for the basic needs.
There is a common kitchen on the third floor, with a nice veranda.
Cleanness: 3,5/5
During the morning, the cleanness of the shared toilets is quite sufficient. But, during the day, it may become very unpleasant. The rooms are a bit dusty, I was not able to understand If there is cleaning service in the room during the stay. The bed’s sheets are clean and with a good smell.
Atmosphere: 5/5
The guys at the reception are always nice and helpful. Even if you are traveling alone, the atmosphere inside the hostel is always friendly and positive. The Hostel provides some games that are allowing people to socialize.
A big note is that the bar of the Hostel is one of the few that is selling beer/alcohol in the area. The price is more than good, so if you are not willing to walk that’s the best place where to stay to eat and drink something in a friendly environment.
Services: 5+/5
- Free breakfast included
- Super-fast laundry service, for only 12 Turkish Liras.
- Free city maps
- Free Xbox
- Free Pool Table
- Free Football Table
Prices: 5/5
The prices are in line with the city, even if I think that for the services offered and the commodities this is the best quality/price hostel in the city. Here there are some prices:
6 beds room -> 7/8 Euro for bed/night
4 beds room -> 10 Euro for bed/night
Private room -> 20 Euro for night
In conclusion, I have been in the Hanchi hostel during #TheEuropeanSustainableTour, in August and for me, this is one the best, if not the best, hostel in the city for 2017.
Hanchi is The best Hostel for your stay in Istanbul.
